When we last spoke, are spirits were high…
We talked about the holidays…
You once again reminded me
that your favorite was Halloween…
You loved seeing the girls all dressed up
in their favorite characters…
We did not speak of what was coming…
We spoke as if we had all of eternity…
And, so we do…
Despite are ups or our downs
the one thing we never said was goodbye…
There were times we did not speak
our record was right at nine months…
We met in July, and as it came around,
we all seemed to reconnect…
I recall your lecture on soulmates
and how we had not met before…
I listened and kept it too myself,
as you rattled on and on at times…
Like when you were bored
and had nothing to do…
I could feel your presence,
your smile was a give away,
your laughter another give away,
even your frustrations…
You denied the shenanigans…
Though I always knew…
When we last spoke,
we did not say goodbye…
We never ever said goodbye,
we only said, love you…
