“ Are we too blind to see “

In 1969, a song written by Mac Davis and recorded by Elvis Presley was released. It was a part of his comeback tour and captured an age in America that has remained mostly unchanged. The song was In The Ghetto, one of the stanzas in the song / poetry of that age, is this.

“ People, don’t you understand

The child needs a helping hand

Or he’ll grow to be an angry young man some day?

Take a look at you and me

Are we too blind to see

Do we simply turn our heads, and look the other way? “

Fast forward a mere 51 years, and we are here once again. This time it’s “ Can’t Breathe “ six years ago it was “ Hands Up, Don’t Shoot “
