“ a light will emerge “ ( a trilogy )

like a horrid dream it begins as it always does

a deafening sound,

a banging shutter,

broken glass

a blown open door

followed by silence more deafening

then the moments before

years of dust aloft now slowly settling

a crackling of glass under bare feet

the smell of fresh blood

a frigid draft waltzing all around

more deafening silence

I gasp from her icy cold cheek

pressed against my chest

her squeeze followed as an exhale

drawing in an all to familiar scent

with a loaded past her lips slowly warming

my lungs burn from the iciness of her breath

“I must close the shutters”

“it will be light soon”

I will light a candle

she will blow it out

I will lay down she will place her head upon chest

our hearts will blend she will warm

before the cock will crow
